Where to start... Not sure, it's one of those things that sort of grew naturally.
Relaxxd Fit Tactical came from an idea that I had when I moved back to Arizona, I started to go back to the shooting range. All these mass shootings were happening, lockdowns opened back up and I could feel this palpable anger. At least out here when I was driving and interacting with strangers. Then a woman was found shot dead in her car not too far from where I live, and it's not like I live in a "bad neighborhood", it's just... people.
My mother hunted foxes on horseback as well as other game when she was growing up, and my father was a marine-cop-DEA agent and competed in shooting, so to say I'm educated in the ways of the pew-pew is an understatement. I decided to EDC (everyday carry) since I also had a newborn.
So those were the reasons I was back in the gun world, now you don't just buy a gun and stick in your pocket and call it a day, it becomes a lifestyle. Your clothes change, and you have to wear a belt almost always, no matter how much you're trying to make that EDC FannyPack work for you ironically or not. Now for any of you who know me, I'm either in a T-shirt and shorts or in a T-shirt and shorts. If you see me in jeans, it's cold af out. I'm in cotton shorts with a drawstring I don't tie cause the elasticity should be enough and on rare occasions cargo shorts with a belt if I'm going to have a busy day on the go. So, if you can imagine wearing an IWB (inside the waistband holster) with cotton shorts or gym shorts, or basketball shorts, doesn't matter how tight you try tying that drawstring, your weapon is pulling your shorts down.
I tried. I tried to be the everyday jean guy, but I just can't. It's too uncomfortable and I'm in Phoenix, I don't carry cash in my pocket because it's just wet from sweat when I hand it to someone. Even cargo shorts suck, the thin ones are polyester, swamp city. The thicker ones that are mostly cotton are abrasive and with a pair of new balance... shoot me out at pasture.
Then one day I had an idea, but a belt loop on the inside of a pair, stick a belt in it voila! I thought I was a genius, but then I found a company that had literally already done that. My genius was crushed I thought who cares let us get one of those OVERPRICED PIECES OF-
(Deep breath)

They were fine. They were EXTREMELY overpriced for just some shorts with belt loops on the inside of the waistband, and the belt was difficult to use while inside. Forget about it if you were trying to take it out for a wash, I had a tear start the first time I tried taking the belt out because these "tactical" belts (just a nylon belt with a weird buckle) had "tough" buckles that pinched my fat. Don't get me started on my diet.
Now there are tons of different belts out the I thought, why all this, this belt is literally on the inside of the waistband, I guess you can totally use it on the outside but that wasn't the point of this purchase. At the shooting range, people who compete, or even soldiers and whatnot use a Velcro (hook and loop) belt that thee run through their regular pants, the outside of the belt is the loop part of the system and then they overlap the actual belt that holds all their gear, it adheres onto the loop belt since the inside is the hook. So outside belt hook, inside belt loop. This makes it so that ALL that heavy gear that you have to attach to your belt can be easily ripped off. Super smart, and a super easy concept when you use it. I thought do that for the shorts! You wear a belt no buckle all velcro. Then the shorts that have the hook system on the inside of the waistband!
GENIUS RESTORED! I thought this is how you can take them off quickly and easily. This is how you don't deal with inside belt loops that tear. This makes everything easier! But... It's never been done. No one has done that and the only thing close to it sucks. I can't spend the money on them, and I hate what I need to wear to carry... I saw an opportunity, there's an opening in the market.
My wife, bless her heart thought I was a little crazy, but the more affirmation I got from people I spoke with at gun stores the more I thought I had to take it. With some sort of passionate terrible speech, I somehow talked my wife into helping me and we began researching where we could get these done, can we even do it, how much it, and what is the minimum order quantity, I was designing shorts now, and we couldn't just have shorts, we needed some shirts, we needed more of everything.
Here we are, close to a year later, and I have boxes of these badass shorts... We all worked tirelessly, had numerous trial shorts made, tested the quality, and resent them back with notes and notes and notes. The belt... THIN! DURABLE! 1.5 INCHES WIDE! back and forth... I know so much about nylon now and decided Scuba nylon, the stuff they use to deep sea dive was perfect for the belts innards, and things like that. I am so proud of this new company. Now we are filming commercials, having fun with that.
